Court blocks equality law.
https://www.statesman.com/story/news...on/8833124002/
Ouch, look what texas calls "equality". Forcing companies to carry your extremist, racist, sexist, or terroristic view points is not "equality" its compelling speech. Where are all the free speech warriors..? Weird how the GOP wants to force companies like FB, twitter, and instagram to carry their message but they didnt include companies like parlor and gab. Those companies would be allowed to moderate user content, but not the bigger ones they NEED to spread their message on. So glad a judge blocked it. Its basically saying that companies have no right to moderate content by users, especially if its hateful or recruiting for a jan 6th style attack on the USA.

I remember hearing about Trump talking about his new social media platform and him touting that it will involve 100% free speech. I don’t know what ended up happening with that but it’s like “100% free speech huh? So what happens when thousands of trolls come in and start spamming ‘FUCK TRUMP’ thousands of times? Or the N word? Or any other pointless obscenities”. Anyone who thinks they can have a platform with unmoderated speech that WON’T turn into a haven for trolls and filth is just naive But moderation cannot be impartial. It just can’t. It’s being done by humans, or it’s being done by algorithms programmed by humans, and humans are biased. So moderation will always be unfair to some group or another

laws wont fix whats wrong with us
laws are often not enforced relying on law enforcement too much or the federal government too much creates a systemic problem and exacerbates racism and sexism and religious fanaticism. It removes the individuals ability to solve these problems on their own.

for example the cable company the phone company verizon doesn't have the right to moderate your content so some do and some don't, and when there are disagreements we use the courts to sort it out like it happened it shouldn't be news that politicians carve out exemptions for their favorite constituency, this sort of corruption is endemic to all political parties

Gravypoop,
Go learn what Section 230 is and how it is abused by social media companies. Beyond what is legally required to be removed such as threats of violence, planning terrorist acts, snuff videos, child porn, etc. Any further moderation or editorializing of content is beyond the scope a "platform" You either DO NOT editorialize and you have Section 230 protection OR You DO editorialize and you are responsible for ALL content on your platform. Social media has wanted it both ways. This will come to an end, maybe when (R) take the house in 2022.
Jeez, another ignorant lib.
