Or the zone was just cleared out like it is here. I doubt it as there weren't a ton of 50s back when it released and I remember losing my corpse in there a few times.

So if Turmoil Toads dropped Rune Etched armor, did they also drop Flayed Turmoilskin Belt/Turmoil Warts? Or were those added when they moved the armor off.

And Scarelings. Any idea if Eyerazzia was dropped prior to hateplane?

What about phoboplasms? I assume if Woven Shadow didn't exist, they certainly shouldn't drop it.

1. Eyerazzia

This one is a bit hard to pin down.

I see no mention of Eyerazzia in the newsgroups before Nov 1999:

https://groups.google.com/g/alt.game...ch?q=eyerazzia

EQLizer news page shows Eyerazzia was added on Nov 1st (notably, along with Fluxbladed Axe, which I also can't find in the newsgroups before Nov 99):

https://web.archive.org/web/19991104.../eq/index.html

Eyerazzia is mentioned on this guild page from Nov 99 in a list of drops he had "never seen before":

https://web.archive.org/web/20010412...s/news1199.htm

My best guess is that Eyerazzia was new with hateplane release, along with Fluxbladed Axe.

2. Flayed Turmoilskin Belt / Turmoil Warts

EQLizer news page has Flayed Turmoilskin Belt as a "new shaman belt from fear" on Oct 30, 1999:

https://web.archive.org/web/19991104.../eq/index.html

Also this newsgroup post mentions new belts in fearplane:

Quote:

For your information, although some new items
that are nice drop in Fear now, the armor doesn't seem to drop nearly as
much - as in 3 pieces in the entire ****ing zone yesterday. The new
belts aren't that great.
They already upped how tough Draco was too much
for the loot he drops, and they also make it so him and Cazic Thule
don't spawn for a long time. Whats funny is the servers go up and down
so often they never even get a damned CHANCE to spawn.

Turmoil warts, I do see these before hateplane release, I think they were in from the start. Here's a newsgroup post mentioning them in Sept 1999:

https://groups.google.com/g/alt.game...m/ABEMKcCARuEJ

3. Phoboplasms

Highly doubt they dropped woven shadow before hateplane release. No references to it.

Fall of 1999 Changes

* Lustrous Russet was changed in the September 14th 1999 patch to be warrior only:
Did this persist ?

I see a patch note from the same day stating

Actually you're right, that one was reversed and it was a bit of a scandal. Thread with post by Abashi referencing it, and a player explaining it in more detail:

>when trying to change some existing armor to "warrior only".
However with the Lustrous Russet
armor, if I remember the story; what happened is Verant changed it to warrior
only with no warning whatsoever, people removed their armor only to find they
couldn't put it back on; and since this was in the days when no drop meant no
bank they were in real trouble. If instead Verant had announced that a mistake
was made and either changed all of the Lustrous Russet on non warriors to the
appropriate planes armor for that class; or had GM's collect and exchange the
Lustrous Russet for the appropriate planes armor, there would have probably
still been complaints, but far less then there were (imvho) and at least Verant
would have been shown trying to make a effort to be fair.

Pending update:

Some spawngroups did not include all possible levels of the respective npcs which could spawn. This has been corrected.

Prior to September 1999:
-wraithstone, wand of allure, thulian wand, wand of darkness, wand of lava will not drop

Prior to October 1999:
-worry wraiths may drop ethereal mist armor
-boogeymen may drop imbrued platemail armor
-turmoil toads may drop rune etched armor
-carmine, blighted, woven shadow, indicolite, amygdalan tendril, nautilus shield, dreamorvine garland, eyerazzia, turmoilskin belt, girdle of the diligent, fluxbladed axe will not drop.
