Most people just can't perceive what it means to take a corner pulling 4.5Gs laterally in a 1000 hp racing car that would stick to the track if it were upside down.
Its simply the pinnacle of racing and technology...what happens in an environment where no expense is spared and any possible competitive edge is taken.
There isn't really a joke to be had...F1 fans hate this hybrid era. They sound like electric kitchen blenders compared to the old 8s / 10s / 12s of yesteryear.

I've got 8-10 friends / fams hooked just by having them watch Senna film and the Drive to Survive series on Netflix. Everyone is now watching the races on Sunday mornings over breakfast.
