Miscellaneous: Monks could use Rubicite until early May 1999

A few sources for this. It was changed in the early May 1999 patch.

Monks can wear cloth, leather, netted (magical cloth), Snakeskin (A leather
variant from Splitpaw dungeon) Mesh (magical lightweight leather from GUK
dungeon), and Rubicite Plate (Yeah, right, I'll be getting some of that REAL

As of the latest patch, Monks are no longer able to wear Rubicite Platemail. So for now, the best armor for Monks other then Green splinted platemail is Mesh (not including miscellaneous).I also updated most of the pages, nothing major.

I think the mention of Green Splinted Mail existing after Beta as an option for Monks is the bigger find here...

My second concern is about what is widely known (correct me if im wrong)
to be the game best full suit of plate armor. The ungodly powerful, Green
Splinted Platemail. Ive only figured a while ago that it was medium only by
looking at screenshots of a few pieces of this armor on the website of the
widely known guild Fires of Heavens. Its even worst than the problem
concerning the Soulfire in my humble opinion. It means that all the small
and large only races will never be able to touch that stat-boosting, light,
strong-as-mithril platemail.

They turned everyone "red" (ie: pvp enabled) and handed out all kinds of
fantastical gear (like the green splinted platemail that only aradune gets
to wear), and had a massive free for all PK fest.

I don't think it was ever in the game per se.
