Miscellaneous: Coldain Ring #1 Combine

My skill is 43 and that blanket combine is supposed to be trivial at 41 and it does say it is when I failed the combine after patch 40 twice. Not sure if someone else experienced this? Sucks to farm these pelts for hours and then fail so often.

Sorry to hear, that certainly sucks when it happens. I did make a couple of combines post patch (my skill is just around yours) and they went through fine. Might just be unlucky on the RNG

For things w/ lower than trivial of 68:
Chance of success = MIN(Skill - Trivial + 66, 95)

Chance of success = MIN(43 - 41 + 66, 95) = 68%

Trivial just indicates that you can no longer gain skill from the combine, not that you have the maximum chance of success. If you want a 95% chance of success on a combine with a trivial of 41 you need to raise your skill to 70.

The trivial is 44, not 41, I have a 50 skill and never failed it.

I didn't know about this formula for tradeskill but I have 250 JC on my enchanter and don't ever remember failing on trivial but I do know it could happen. This is probably due to the fact that when I hit trivial on JC I almost immediately stopped making that item and moved on to the next one.

I did 3 other combines before the patch and was successful with all three. I wasn't sure if something changed that was not on the patch notes. I'm ok with the change but I just didn't expect it if there was even such a modification. I do see this post stating that having higher skill way past the trivial helps the combine success. http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/ar...r=040110000000

I hope this informs others so that they make sure their skill is higher if they don't want to risk many hours of farming for the pelts just to fail at combining it.
