Yep, me too. Just installed game again after about a year away. I can't even alt tab out of it. Have to ctrl alt del, sign out of Windows and back in. This is so annoying because I'm trying to play with my daughter and I can't even get into the game. Reinstalled it, reinstalled the v54 patch files. I've been Googling my fingers off for 2 hours. Bleh.

I have had similar problems when i first started i got to character select screen but would get a black screen when clicking enter world and server not responding would eventually show up.

The issue i found was i was trying to play on a wireless dongle and the 2 fixes were either to use a wired connection or a vpn.

This totally fixes my issue but it might not for you.

Guys, I found the answer! Well, for me anyway. One fix is this:

Try running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP 3 or earlier.

Another: Edit your eqclient.ini file and set your game resolution to the same your desktop resolution is running at. [there are two places to do that there, I just went ahead and did both]

And last, the one that seemed to work best for me:

Still in your eqclient.ini, try this: WindowedMode=1 ... not TRUE, not FALSE... 1. Good luck guys!

as lady mentioned,

running p99 in XP SP3 *and* as administrator solves alot of loading/zoning crash issues

Oh so sorry, I've been asking so many places I couldn't remember where I needed to go and inform people. I got it fixed with that, and by doing a couple ini tweaks. Very happy now!

none of this works for me. I only crash when zoning or when im loading to or from the character selection screen, ive talked to alot of other people where the same thing is happening. I dont remember it being like this 6 years ago when i played on blue...
I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling
Any more suggestion would be appreciated
