Default Brand New. Which class?

Hello everyone. I just got a copy of Titanium and fired it up on project 1999. I cannot make up my mind on what class to play. I assume that the popular classes for new players is fully saturated on the server. So what class is more rare 50+ and has a good place in groups and is able to do the solo gig? I'm leaning toward wizard but really have a desire to Ikky SK. Can I enjoy the game here non twink as an sk? i've read a lot of posts and see that the server is bloated with twinks. What do you think. wizardo or lizardo?

If you want to make the Ikky SK do it. It's what I did back when i started here and I haven't regretted it. Also you can take advantage of the nice guy handing out free banded to new players which should last great until you can convert it to dreadscale.

Server is fully mature, meaning you'll see a lot of twinks, but also that people tend to give out or sell really good gear on the cheap. You can definitely enjoy the game as a non-twink of any class.

SK is a tank with some ability to solo while waiting for a group. Tanks are relatively rare on the server while leveling up, so you should not have a problem getting a group. Groups will not decline to invite you because of your gear, this isn't WoW, the class and the player matter way more than the gear.

The path of a child of Solusek is a challenge but rewarding in my opinion.

Also a lot of twinks will roll around with extra gear. I know I do and let people borrow it while we group so exp is faster and better.

Def play whatever you want to play. That's what this server is for.

I say, you have eight slots to create characters. So make both, and then make five more! Leave one open for the time being. But play with a bunch of new characters!

Iksar SK is a great first char combo.
However, don't forget that Iksars came to EQ with an expansion pack (Kunark).

If you want to experience EQ as close as possible to the original, classic content, you might want to rule out Iksars.
Troll is just about as good a race for an SK as an Iksar. Arguably even a tad better technically. And no funny looking tail for life.

And don't get me started on Iksar fighting animations.

If you hit me up in game on Amyas and I am not neck deep in something I can bring you a starting weapon buddy.

Personally, I find the game more fun untwinked with nothing but a Dagger* and a love note from your GM. Most newbie areas have a few quests to do that either give some good xp or get you into some patchwork. A lot of people say don't start a tank untwinked but I think that only really applies if you intend to solo your way up. If you're down to group nobody cares how twinked you are, particularly as a knight since you can hold aggro with just a level 9 spell.

I wouldn't worry too much about what others are playing. People come and go from the server. It's a long slog to 50+ so choose what's going to be fun on the journey. Iksar SK will be great for group content and can fear kite on the side when you don't have time to group (obviously somewhat limited to outdoor zones, but plenty of solid locations).

Iksar SK sounds great untwinked, you wont be able to solo as much as some classes while leveling up untwinked but you will be able to hold agroe as a tank just fine..SK is one of the rarer classes because they aren't in high demand for raiding and they used to have an exp penalty associated with them
