DSETUP.DLL
Did a forum search here and EQEMU and can't seem to find an answer. I found a post in the archives of Rogean having this for download to replace which fixed for some people. Everytime I run EQgame I get this error.
EQGAME.EXE - BAD IMAGE E:\Everquest\DSETUP.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. I've installed it to c:\Everquest c:\program files\ and now my backup drive E:\ and nothing seems to work. I directly copied the DSETUP.DLL out of the directx folder off my TITANIUM CD's, and I know it's not the disks, because I have x3 copies of the game (physical copies) and I've used all 3 and they all get this issue so it's something to do with my PC. I can't figure it out, can anyone help?

what version of directx are you running? and is this on windows 7 or 8?
can try copying dsetup.dll into your system32 folder.

Also if I delete the DESETUP.DLL from the \everquest folder, the EQEMU downloads it, and the file goes back in, but I still get the error.

I'm backing everything up and going to do a full wipe and reinstall of Windows 7 on my box. It's even giving me errors when trying to regsvr32 the dsetup.dll and I can't really uninstall/reinstall directx since it's bundled.
so rather than stress out about it I'm going to just do a fresh install and see what happens, I know it's my system so hopefully this will resolve. I'm extremely anxious to play Everquest again [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Yay reinstalling Windows 7 totally took care of it.
Thanks for help. | ||

Install Directx 8.0c from Microsoft. The dll file isn't included with EQ (even though others are) but can be found in DX 8.0c. It also will fix the issue with the dx30.dll missing file as well.
