My company is going to Juniper. JNCIA is probably the easiest cert to get. No simulations like CCNA test.
I have a JNCIS-ENT/SEC, going for the JNCIP certs now. I can confirm this shit is a cakewalk compared to cisco test.

Question

Is a JNCIP what you get when you complete community jr college?

A lot of companies are. Juniper had a program going (not sure if they still are) that they were allowing people to take exams for free to get certified. People who are certified in a particular product tend to recommend it and implement it.

That being said, I've been dealing with persistent (6+ months) of 2-5 minute outages of primary connectivity between our Minneapolis and Dallas datacenters because of a Juniper IOS bug in the gear from our provider which is causing routing reconvergence. I will probably never even consider Juniper for jack or shit after dealing with these problems due to a stupid bug.

This is wrong. The test has a lab, simlet, and testlets. The only thing you won't find is what this troll is talking about.

Download some ios images, and lab up something in gns3. If you live in Minneapolis send me a pm about getting gear.
Yep, spot on here. And another Minneapolis native. We're all over [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Heh...you know, I only have a 2 year technical degree. In the tech field you can replace a lot of traditional education with certifications and shit specifically tailored to what you actually do. There are kids who forgo college completely and spend 1-2 years going nuts on Cisco exams - landing like CCIE R&S and CCIE Security by age 20. Those dudes are often rolling 6 figure incomes before they can legally drink and instead of being 100k in debt from student loans they are out maybe 10k in training materials and lab gear rental.

I'm not going to paint too rosy a picture though, you need to be a fucking bad ass with this shit to stand out in the core networking industry.

Oh I don't disagree that the sole purpose of a B.A. at your big Liberal Arts school is to be a closet snob that looks down their nose at anyone hustling tech while you pull down 8 bucks an hour at Starbucks.

A BA used to be a membership card to an economic caste, and its essentially now a membership card to a social caste for corporations that still discriminate on that basis. It still has value, now more situational and no longer a golden ticket to an interview.

Not too long ago (mabe 10 years) IBM for a period of time was only hiring Liberal Arts degrees. You run into various snobbery n such in certain pockets with certain corps.

This is an attempt to broaden my horizons, not find a career =P I figure it would be a good complement to my programming experience, and I already have touched a lot of network topics in my experience.

I'm doing this so I can say to you dumb motherfuckers that I passed this shit after a week of preparation and call you all stupid.

We do yeah, but this isn't my gear. It is the ISP Juniper chassis in the datacenter (in this case, XO Communications is both the colo operator and ISP). According to them, there isn't a patch for it yet.
