Logan, corpses have been free in every version of Everquest since 1999. You didn't get that memo?
Also, your asinine argument has been debunked. What happened during classic does not equate to what is classic. Exhibit A: No one went 51-60 in under 10 days at Kunark release in classic Should these people be deleveled to 51? Should we have avoided this very bad very scary reality by putting a pause on all mob exp for 30 days? Exhibit B: 50%+ of server didn't bind @ firepots in classic Should we have made firepot binding a few hours only so only a few people could do it? Should we just have eliminated it altogether? Closing Argument: The historical record of 1999-2001 does not equate to what was possible during 1999-2001. It is not the same was what defined classic mechanics. "Being classic" means keeping the game the way it was 1999-2001 - that's the mechanics, zones, spawn times, loot tables, etc. "Being classic" doesn't mean contorting mechanics, spawn times, etc. to produce player behavior that is exactly the same as 1999-2001. That's antithetical to the heart of EQ, an open sandbox world. Brad would not approve. Saving quest items and turning them in at once was possible 1999-2001, it's jut no one had the creativity or drive to make it happen... until now [You must be logged in to view images. Don't be too quick to argue classic mechanics when there are some non classic corpse decay mechanics present on P1999 which work to your benefit. If you really are managing 100+ corpses' worth of scrolls (at a maximum of four per) that job would've been tougher in the original game with paid accounts and faster average corpse rot rates.
Beyond that, it varied server to server whether the local GM's would've cared enough to suspend you for exploiting corpses to bypass the lore restriction. That was indeed regarded as an exploit in-era and was an actionable offense, albeit enforcement varied wildly one server to the next. I saw players get suspended for it at times, but on realms which had hands-off (or lazy) GMs the tactic was more commonly utilized. In other words, be glad the admins here merely delayed you for a little while instead of throwing a wrench in your plans entirely. Danth | ||
