Agreed - I could have worded it better.
So why didn't you?

I clicked the advanced button but there is no "use advanced lighting" to uncheck. Only options I can turn on/off are 4 different Shaders, 2 Sky Reflection and Shadows.
/load default and try disabling the option under that skin before switching back to your usual cheaty ui?

No seriously, nothing you said was wrong (IMHO)! I was just trying to "piggyback" off a quote of your's, not admonish you for helping the devs by giving feedback [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'm not even providing feedback--yet--because I suspect it's a "work in progress." I just wanted to be sure it wasn't a purely local problem (thanks for the confirmation guys). I'll save the feedback for if/when they ask for it. Right now it has the look of something that's unfinished but promising.

That advanced lighting checkbox does appear to be missing when I used patch 50d, reverting to patch 50 and I have it again.

This is intentional. I would play with it on and report any issues as this will be the default eventually.

There's our feedback request!

For my part, in outdoor zones the light sources are working quite nicely from a functionality standpoint. This is a positive and critical change as formerly there were many areas where light sources worked only poorly or not at all. Most players were probably oblivious to this since apparently most folks run at high gamma (I do not).

It might be a little overdone. Parts of indoor zones like velketor and thurgadin are so bright it gave the wife a migraine last night. Very weak light sources like Coldlight are poviding ample light to use as a regular-use lightsource. I caution that it does not need to be dialed back very much--don't overdo it!

There is a noticeable framerate hit attached to the lighting. This might be unavoidable but I figured I'd mention it in case optimization is possible.

I'm happy to work with you if you want specific types of lights or zones tested. getting better-working lights has been on my own personal "gripe list" for a loooong time so I'm happy to see progress on that front.

After 50d, I zoned into the Velk's Lab entrance....I thought I was in heaven....Nothing but white...no texture, no corners....thought it was just me. Good to hear I'm not the only one.
