Default Enc AoE Mez over-rated?

I'm a 30 enchanter, and I just can't find a use for AoE Mez, is it bad, or do I just not know how to use it?

The downside is that if I mez myself, I'm worthless for 24 seconds, it hits at most 5 other mobs, and I can just tab cycle targets and mez them one at a time. It is also chaotic because resists, or mez breaking means I WILL die, because now everything wants to agro me.

Does it become necessary at some point? It just feels like it takes up a spell slot, and I never use it, and when I do, I regret it. Tab targeting single mezzing seems much more effective.

When you get a bit higher and you group, you'll mostly be grinding blue mobs. It's super useful, you can just target the puller and mez most of the mobs they bring in.
Need a good puller that brings in 3-9 at a time.
If 8+ mobs, land the first mez and have the puller move. This gives you 2 piles to maintain, just like keeping 2 single mobs mezzed.
The biggest thing is keeping people off the mobs until their locked down, p99s greatest challenge.

Its "ok" until you are mez immune 56+ or so (?). Then you can never mez yourself. Under that it's an "oh-shit" button and single target mezzes are often better.

Yeah you definitely need a skilled puller for it to work well
They need to stop far enough from you that mezzing yourself isn't an issue

I kept that spell on my bar all the time. Keep decent MR and you can lockdown any train. just standup target something and start casting. MR buff and a couple MR items is all you really need.

After 57 you dont get hit by it as far as I can remember and it's basically like aoe stun at that point that lasts what, 45 seconds? 30?

I love that spell!

yeah like the other says, when someone pulls like 5 things and bam you just lock em all down it feels good [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

It's also critical while charming because when Charm breaks, you can then pbae stun and AoE mez and mez both your pet and the enemy. Then simply recharm. Keep your enemy rooted for even more safety.

at level 30 maybe grab a couple +13mr rings and some other MR items to see how much you need to resist it, maybe 2 rings and an eoe or something would be all it takes? If you like the way the spell works without the danger of self mez.

Keep a corpse nearby to use as a target for the aoe so you can position the mobs close to the target, but keep yourself out of range.

I seem to notice that if you aoe mez or slow a group

hit escape

take a step back

auto targeted whomever just hit you because you had nothing targeted

cast it again, it hits all the other awoken creatures

thats my simple little trick
