You're right in theory except for wage and job growth in Midwest states is doing very very well. Most of the hyper inflation consumers are seeing is not in commodities but in housing.
I'm apprehensive about the tariffs as well. All the "smart" people keep telling me it's going to cripple America/throw rocks in our harbor. But these "smart" people also said Trump would never be president, that if he did win, the stock market would crash immediately, the economy would double down on the recession, and that people would lose their healthcare by the 10s of millions.
So far the only people that haven't benefited from Trump are illegal immigrants.
