Problems starting EQ since patch? Read this
Since some people seem to have a variety of errors since the patch, here a compiled list on how to solve them:
EQ fails to start due to an error: this can happen because your screen resolution is not set / invalid ... either go into the options of your EQ install (there is a shortcut in start => programs) or change the eqclient.ini directly in your EQ directory this is the section you are looking for, it might look similar .. If that does not fix your error try: Quote:
For problems with the eqemulauncher: wont launch because it says missing version of .NET Framework Go to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa569263 and install .net framework Here is a video on how to setup the launcher http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOxyLIKI4N4 For windows vista or windows 7 users, make sure you install EQ anywhere but the Program Files to avoid permission errors. Best is to install it directly to c: for most of you. It will avoid alot of access issues.

Also try disabling your antivirus. That caused the problem for some of us, and some antivirus programs are nearly impossible to turn off manually. Your best bet is to try the following:
- Start menu -> run (just that bottom text bar for Vista/7) - type 'msconfig', hit enter - Navigate to the 'Start' tab - Find your antivirus program on the list and uncheck it - Reboot your computer and see if Everquest will run now. If that fixes the problem, you should try to figure out how to add dsetup.dll (or all of Everquest) as an exception in your antivirus program, because you really don't want antivirus to be disabled when you actually use the computer. Re-check the antivirus in msconfig->start, reboot again, and dig around in the settings. There should be an option somewhere to add files/applications to a list of things that get ignored by the blanket protection. Add either dsetup.dll or all of Everquest and it should work if done correctly. | ||
