Wow who does 800+ odds. When I intermittently run a casino the odds fluctuate but have settled on the following:

Beat the Dealer - You Random 1-10, then I do. You beat me and win 2x, tie goes to dealer. Most people enjoy this one.

Random 1k - You do a Random 1000, 0-25 reroll, 625-975 win 2x, 975-1000 win 3x.

Pick a Number - You choose a single number 1-10. I random 1-10. If it's your number win 6x. Least played.

As far as setting up and location, Shady Swashbuckler is best since it is away from majority and don't bother anyone. Also it is well known spot so you can advertise it in /shout and people know where to go. I've had good and bad streaks. One night raked in 2kpp in 15 minutes, then lost 3kpp in 5 minutes. The thrill of being the bank!

PS - Richgirl always had like 8 different games to choose from and was the most reputable casino on this server.

My Casino yields pretty low spam unless I have multiple people playing in which case I take it to tells. The only thing that shows up is the /rans and the once every 4-5 min /shout for advertise. I also offer secure free transfers for people and am hosting a raffle as well as intend on hosting other giveaways and such. Its just some extra fun to break from the monotony of grinding exp.

Also, EC tunnel is filled with people who are either 1) afk 2) providing their own spam of selling or buying stuff 3) or are just hanging around and don't mind seeing the random's even coming to watch sometimes.

Well, they were banned on live at some point...
Wasn't that so they could add their own Shadowhaven money sink to get plat out of the game? Besides, with Live being swamped with real cash, they had to be seen as doing something. Here, there's no real cash, it's just plain and simple in-game gambling.

Perhaps as a simple play nice policy :-

1) The dealers invite the players to a group, so all the "game" spam stays out of the general area.
2) Those that don't want to see the invite spam, stick the dealer on ignore.
3) Have a chat window for /random, and minimise it.
4) Have the dealers move to the back of the Shady Swashbuckler area, out of trader's earshot.

Take some steps to sort the problem yourself, before banging the petition button.

I don't think anyone is banging on a petition button...

I think its a little unreasonable to move into an area and expect all the people around you that don't like it to move away or create new windows to accommodate them. When they could just as easily as you put it move to shady or another unpopulated area.

Most casino's I see are at entrance, T1, T2, the most populated areas right now.

Some are shady, and you know bring those on

They were banned well before the existence of Shadowhaven to my knowledge, though all I can find now on the Internet are random discussions about how they're OK in EQ now and people occasionally saying "but weren't they banned once?"

I can testify that they were not banned. Only people who submitted the right evidence to people scamming them while running a casino got their accounts banned. But legit ones were never even questioned. Mine was even supported by GM's with global announcements and presence.

When? There was a long period of acceptance followed by a "stop making casinos."

Regardless, I don't care whether they exist here or not.

I ran a casino from 99-2003 consistently, took a few months break, then ran one off and on (like one night a week) until prog servers came out in 2005? Then ran one of prog server for a few months until I had to move and quit EQ all together until 2 years ago. Ran one on Alkabor then as well with my mac.

There was around 2003-2004 a lot of people with rumors of casinos getting banned and stern warnings that I should stop. I think it was a collection of SOE banning scammers and people who had an agenda against casinos spreading rumors =)

Folks articulated what I posted for but didn't realize it. It's the spam...

I used to insta-ignore too, but I figure- what if I'd like to meet that person away from their "job". I'd need to be able to hear them

And, folks, you all are quick to jump on someone for an opinion. I'm not disparaging anyone running a casino. I too am a big proponent of do what you like; especially if it's within the rules.

I just hate the spam too.

Thanks for the folks responding. Wondered if I was the only one that felt this way.

See this is what I'm talking about. Who's petitioning? You make great sense up until point 4 where you assume what someone else is thinking.

/shrug

I like the separate, minimized window for randoms though. That's a good thought.
