Default (Shaman) Blight, Hammer of the Scourge

Hey whats up guys! I am new to Everquest/p99 and have been playing since last summer, has been a lot of fun. Recently I started a new shaman and came across this item on the wiki (Blight, Hammer of the Scourge) I'm not sure why but it intrigued me and the effect it has seems cool. The wiki said it was worth about 1k and before I try to purchase one I just wanted to ask any of the Shamans available on their thoughts on this weapon. Does anyone happen to have one they'd be willing to sell? Thanks.

It’s pretty cheap with great stats and has the same look as the GFG. Melee wise it’s not as good as the competing Poison Wind Censor (ratio wise). At 50 though that becomes nearly useless due to the rain spell.

I have one on my sham. It’s a nice hammer for the price. The proc is a long duration dot which is situationally handy (jousting root rots, etc) but chances in the 30’s you will only get a few ticks until the mob dies. If a Barb, check out the Barbarian Spiritualist’s Hammer instead.

How does this fair vs Poison Wind Censer?
Hits faster while Blight can proc the dot?

I've not used a PWC because I wanted the wisdom from the Blight so I cannot compare but I gotta say Snaggles has me looking hard at that Barbarian Spiritualist’s Hammer

I guess it depends how you use it.

The PWC or GFG are much better ratio weapons than the Blight or Barb (if you can use that one). Straight-up meleeing they will lag behind. The Barb with a few procs is probably closer to the GFG or even beating it. Winner: PWC and GFG. Toss up Barb hammer depending on random number generator.

In the high levels (im only level 54) hps are hard to pass on. The Blight gives 9 stamina and 9 wis instead of 10 str and 10 wis (GFG). Winner: Blight or a 1h & shield

In the high levels too you seldom just dig-in and start swinging. A root break happens so you get maybe a round or two of melee off while trying to root again. The Barb hammer has a chance of a decent white dmg hit + a 260dmg DD. The Blight has the same chance for a swing + proc but in theory that one is a slow-drip 600dmg one. Same goes for the slow/JBB/swinging between click approach. Winner: Blight or Barb hammer.

Mainly though I just have a Blight because it looks like a GFG but is 1/4th the price. I didn't roll Barbarian so options are limited. Landing a lucky proc though does make me just want to root that one mob and forget about it. Free damage is free damage after all...even if it takes forever to happen.

As a lucky Iksar shaman- a passing Druid handed me the Blight hammer at level 20.
I’m currently level 40 and have never regretted using it nearly exclusively once it began to proc!
I can imagine at 55+ it’s not nearly as impactful seeing the 40dd and 24 a tick roll off in combat.
Anyone who is rolling a shaman- my advice : get Blight!

It can be a good option post 60 for long high hp objects. It hits almost as hard as most of the good melee and the delay won’t matter much if you’re in a torpor war and hitting between cannis. The torpor will actually help the proc hit.
