Default back stab 101

Have some question for rogues.

Never played one as tbh they dont appeal to me.

However a enc friend and I are planning to duo in a kunark dungeon with a charmed rogue pet.

I was wondering about what factors affect backstab damage.

1,, str buff increase amount damage done?

2, dex buff, affect how often BS procs? like it does for crit hits on tanks? is BS a proc?

3, does weapon damage affect the amount of damage done?

IF no 3 is a factor, then we might be able to give pet a high damage, long delay weapon. Not that i can think of any......but can research it.

have I missed any factors?

thanks

If this works out might compile a list of rogue mobs foundin kunark.

will take screen shots every time the pet kills off the enc, with a backstab [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Seen it happen in HHK

1) I have never seen any meaningful gains with additional strength on an NPC.

2) may increase procs if you give your pet a procing weapon otherwise backstab is on a timer. The only thing that affects that timer is haste.

3) NPC's always have a base damage they hit for. Same thing applies to backstabs. The only time this is affected is if you give your pet a weapon whose damage is more than half of what they hit for (weapon damage x2 is what they'll hit for). This doesn't affect backstab or else people would be giving NPC's weighted axes + torch for duel wield.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Gunthak_Harpoon

that would been fun toy....

However it could be that npc rogues BS at a fixed amount, regardless of what is equiped?

NPC backstab isn't dependant on having a piercer in primary, at least according to the mag/nec rogue pets.

`This doesn't affect backstab or else people would be giving NPC's weighted axes + torch for duel wield.`

thought weighted axes got nerfed on here? or you just saying that as an example?

so maybe use any procing 2hander in main, and a torch in the offhand?

2 GHL is an old favourite ofcourse for pet weapons, but am not sure on 2handers. IF we tried a charm pet in say one the goblin mines zones. DOnt thin kthe weapon damage will change the hits much, so jsut comes down to procs.

so any particularly good 2handers to use? mobs will be an ave lvl of 33 (gob backbiters)

I think there may be some rogue class undead in TT, am researchign this atmo.

backtsab is on a cooldown timer like kick/slam/bash and is effected by haste but not dex

This question doesn't appeal to me. Ask the proper board. Rogues and rogue pets have very little in common.

A level 10 rogue would be irrelevant to this guy's question. This really should be in the Casters forum, as it kind of pertains more to Enchanters (and maybe Mage/Necro).
