Default Ubuntu installed, now what?

So, I've been using 10.10 on a USB thumbdrive at work to boot into computers that won't boot into Windows for whatever reason. I decided, out of curiosity, to load it onto my laptop as a more permanent solution, since I have been dinking around in it on everyone else's machine and it seems pretty neat. So, I installed it, upgraded to 11.04, and customized my desktop and a few of the other trivial customizations.

Since I did all this out of sheer curiosity and not out of a desire to gain some new ability, I'm left wondering if I gain anything (aside from another set of OS-specific applications) by running this second OS (I'm using a dual boot with Win 7 Pro).

Eh?

The satisfaction of learning a new os is about all you'll get from it, unless you program or have a need for a server or fifty.

If you're a gamer, it definitely should not be your only os. Microsoft has most game devs drinkin that Direct X kool-aid.

I can barely write a program in MATLAB or C (not C++) right now. I'm not going to be developing anything. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

It's good to have a dual boot cuz wind0ze fucks up and sometimes you just really want to troll forums or look at porn and you're too drunk to deal with XP's bullshit.

I ran EQ just fine on Ubuntu. Video was a little sloppy choppy (outdated card and low RAM) but input was alright

You can always setup a Mythtv network. Mythbuntu is an easy enough distro to start off with.
