Hotdogs allowed? because if so, a nice bathwurst in a freshly baked baguette with some dijon and mayonnaise is absolutely great.
Otherwise, what's wrong with a good ol american burger with american yellow cheese? And if neither of those work, well I'ma go full french and say a ham & cheese croissant is literally the perfect sandwich. some crisp lettuce and fresh tomatoes thinly sliced, fucking yum.

They opened a Lidl nearby so I grabbed a couple packages of their german sausages. So far, I'm not impressed. Really want to find a good bratwurst in the area.
There used to be a place called "Wiener Circle" and they had some good stuff. Boy do I miss that joint. They had a fried mac and cheese chili dog that gave me some terrible heartburn but damn was it worth it. -Mcoy

its tough to beat a high-quality ingredient steak n cheese
shaved rib-eye, mushrooms / peppers / onions, your choice in a quality cheese (not that philly whiz shit), and of course a baked-that-day bread of choice

also my own home made grilled cheese in #1 spot and its not a sandwich but homemade sourdough with whatever beans, mash, peas, or leftovers on it i like pastrami quite a bit, pastrami + saurkraut + some kinda mayonaise and sauce + some freshly shredded and wilted (on the sandwitch from the other hot ingrediants) cabage in greater amounts than the kraut (used for seasoning) is like the perfect lunch.
