Nerf enchanters
Haha, I remember this same comment back in the day. As this is a 'mostly' co-operative game, I never understood it then either. It's a great dynamic class that brings a lot to the table for most styles of play.

PS:wtb pug dd's who don't attack mezzed mobs...

I've been saying nerf enchanters for nearly a quarter of a century.

Secrets has mentioned some concern with the OP nature of Enchanters. I expect PQ enchanters to have a slight handicap compared with p99. However in old school EQ Enchanters do remain OP from classic all the way through PoP in reality.

Current implementation of dealing with this involves the way pet experience will occur. This will impact leveling more than final power at level 50, 60, or 65 given current level cap depending on what expansion is out.

If a charmed pet or any pet is doing over 50% of damage to a mob then not all exp will be earned if solo and the pet may take some of the exp if in a group. Stay tuned for finalized rules on this before server is released soon.

Has there been any clarification in regard to this rule on whether or not the XP reduction would apply if the pet is released/dismissed before the kill takes place? i.e. the standard pet soloing tactic for XP of breaking charm at <5% and killing the pet, then killing the mob. Or in the case of a Mage, dismissing the pet and finishing the mob with a nuke.

Because it sounds like the change wouldn't affect these tactics at all, and would only apply to pets being buffed/healed, maintained through multiple mobs and otherwise treated as a party member.

Yep. The tactic you described should work fine. Reclaiming pet or releasing pet would mean no pet to share exp with.

It's mainly targeted toward charmed pets for solo ENCs and in some cases charmed pets for groups. It some cases it would affect other pet owning classes, but not if you used the tactics you discussed.

Hopefully the pet doing 50% damage threshold and solo/group differences are spelled out in brief detail in Secrets final server announcement. Elsewise you'd have to find the discussion via search on discord which happened over last couple weeks in a few different places on discord.

Yet it affects Enchanter charm the least since they're already just going to break their charm when both mobs are low to get exp from both.

That's what I do. Only to effect afk mages maybe? Weird.

If it was about AFK killing then they'd use the 1 damage rule instead. Also the pet exp penalty extends to groups as well.

The only sense I can make of it is that they just don't like pet classes much, especially considering other classes get their penalties removed, kiting penalties are removed, bards get melody, rangers get autofire and panic animal, wizards can crit nuke from day 1, etc.
