Pantheon... only $1000 to access Pre-Alpha

Honestly, I'm just happy to see a newer game with EQ style gameplay. Just hoping it works. I get the gnome argument but I still think it's worth a try.

I don't have an opinion one way or the other on their aesthetics. Never wanted to play as a halfling in mmo's from the past, so I don't have a dog in that fight. If I had to make a decision, I'd say yes, I do like them. They look more like Kender from Dragonlance than the traditional halfling, and I don't see a problem with that.

What I do know is thank god there is someone at least TRYING to go a different direction on these tired races; and even if I hated the halfling models, it is a silly reason to not try a game.

I think the halflings look way too childish, that won't stop me from trying Pantheon. I am just highly disappointed. With the aesthetics of the Pantheon gnomes, I am not as offended. Sure, the gnomes look weird, but that's fine they look unique. The Pantheon halflings really look stupid to me. Maybe in the game they will be better. [You must be logged in to view images. EQ asslings and gnomes have always been ugly. Hooray for change! And I agree that Pantheons look more like Kender, which I think is a vast improvement.

the original everquest model isn't viable anymore....if any game is any good, it will be purchased and an in game store will be patched in .... in game content that's where the cash is, not subscription fees

I would be okay with a higher sub fee. Lord knows I paid 15 a month back in 2000 for eq, and there has definitely been inflation since then. Plus I'm not an unemployed teenager.

Keeping sub at 15 a month is ultimately crippling

Agreed. I'd pay quite a bit more for a quality game with a monthly sub, and something that makes me burn in my loins the way EQ did in 99.

Why not ?
I'd rather pay 50 a month for a quality game, being maintained and improved, on solid servers than a 15 on a released pre alpha with "extensions" which are actually missing part of the game at launch. It's never about the price. It's about what you get for the money you pay.
