If we're going for FFA 8 is way too much. It worked because of the teams aspect on TZ.

Ok fine, people can't handle 8 levels. I agree that you can't be competitive against someone who is 8 levels higher. But how about 6 levels? 5 levels? There is a middle ground between too wide and too narrow. Why do we have to go from one extreme to the other?

Why is 4 unacceptable when 5 isn't? It's already 4 from 1-20 and people seem okay with it there. If the server looks blue from an outside perspective it will bring in more players, and that would (hopefully) result in a net gain of pvp just from the added population. 4 doesn't really seem that bad to me, especially at the high end where levels are capped.

but at that point the link delivers:

cliffnotes:

-group xp bonus going in
-additional static 1-60 xp no scaling going in
-we hate ooc, we recognize its useful, we're "limiting" it ((my idea is that it will be only in cities))
-4+/- level range incoming
-we think the red community is better than its ever been
-these changes will most likely come all at once
-blue players: its a good time to start red

"xp is coming back.. its not gonna be what it was before.. but we think you guys are gonna like it"
