At level 85 with 5000 AA's this doesn't even stun me. =(

I remember that fight with a raid of level 65's though, good times.

Yeah, quite the encounter. It's a shame it's fallen so far, but that's the way things go in MMOs.

I first did AOW when we were 60, and those 1100 quads + frenzy absolutely terrified me. My palms were sweating. I was just a recruit for the #2 guild on the server; and they had yet to log an AoW kill. That was their first, that night.

Years later, I returned with some guildmates. We were all from a post-Uqua guild (gates of discord) at 65 with a few hundred aa's a piece. Perhaps 15 of us, with a few alts in their 40's and 50's waiting to pick up some loot. One of my proudest moments when I became the first non-warrior (paladin) on the server to tank the fight. Wasn't particularly hard with 12000hp, but I still was fairly pleased.

Still one of my favorite encounters of all time. In it's era, that AoW delivered a whallop that there just wasn't gear to reliably handle. Even 4 expansions later it was a multi-group encounter. Not many mobs that can say that.

You have to admit the staying power of EQ, though. It's taken a long time for people to be able to solo ancient content, while in WoW, people are already able to solo original world stuff. Now there's some mudflation for you.

Lots of things happen like that nowadays. Clerics are beasts at soloing.

Kind of makes you wonder what it takes to wipe a normal exp group in EQ these days.

I would like to think that the potions he was using are very expensive and/or involve rare ingredients? Or is that not the case?

(I stopped playing around GoD.)

I keep in touch with some of my old guild / friends on live. and apparently your normal trash mobs hit for like 8k in the new zones or something. All seems a bit over the top now [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I left my chanter on live with about 30khp... All seemed a bit too easy :/

AoW was always a fun fight. I preferred killing ssra nameds though [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

It is with great news that Trakanon was defeated yesterday evening (8/12/00) on the Tribunal Server.
The Elitists and The Vagrants slew the dragon with a combined force of about 45 players!

Special thanks to Crush for leading this event, looking forward for more fun to come! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Loot:

Tolan's Darkwood Breastplate
Singing Steel Breastplate

Congratulations to Librac and Tanarel on your new earned BP's! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
