Coldwater barracuda liver in CS

Too rare Barracuda Liver drop rate in CS

Evidence/Research:
77 kills and only 1 liver.
Only 3 coldwater barracudas are up at any given time in CS.
The numbers don't add up.

Please post a little research suggesting the drop rate is too rare.

April-28: 27 kills, 1 liver
April-29: 12 kills, 0 livers
April-30: 12 kills, 0 livers
May-1: 4 kills, 0 livers
May-2: 15 kills, 0 livers
May-4: 12 kills, 0 livers
Total number of kills: 82

Loot breakdown:
55 X Cold Water Barracuda Meat
1 X Barracuda Liver

Please note that there are 3 cold water barracudas up at all times (maybe 4? not sure, can't track). So 82 mobs means roughly 82/3*6.5 minutes which is ~3 hours and only 1 liver.

I don't think that's what he means. You just showed what's on P99; the second half of the equation is showing what P99 should be ... ie. providing evidence that on live the rate was different.

How can you "prove" that? By using tools like the Wayback Machine to find old EverQuest sites that mention the Barracuda Liver and how rare/common it was.

If you can find one (but preferably several) pieces of evidence, eg. forum posts where someone says "It took me twenty barracudas to get a liver", then you'll have the "evidence" to prove Project 1999 has a bug. Ideally this evidence should come from before 2002, but since things like the Barracuda Liver drop rate probably didn't change in the next year or two, if you can only find evidence from later that might be good enough also.

According to Allakhazm forums, the drop rate is 1/10.

Another forum on the original quest says quite common:
"Found one of the Baracuda livers from the first one we killed, but then started having a few problems finding any more. Enlisted the help of a guildie druid, who tracked them for us, and bingo! another liver on the 3rd or 4th kill. "
