Druid to level 8,
wish I was a Wizard.
Wizard to level 8,
wish I had more solo ability,
Mage to level 10,
just not feeling pet centric gameplay,
Enchanter to level 6,
realise I will be pet centric because of charm,
Rogue to level 8,
I hate being melee, I want to cast.
Wizard again to level 4,
remember how much I hated leveling as Wizard,
Druid again to level 4,
yeah I love the class, but I hate the nature theme,
Wizard again to level 4....

Maybe I should just give up.

I want to do everything (utility, group, buffing, soloability), but the one class that seems to do it all, Druid, just doesn't sit with me. I like the arcane caster theme, not nature.

Ironically, when I played EQ in 2003, I mained a Druid during PoP and Ykesha (granted I played casually). It's so weird that now I'm older I hate the idea of nature casters, yet it used to be amazing. I remember spending most of my time hanging out in low level areas PLing people for free, just chatting.

I wish I could just make alts and flick between them, but I keep rerolling to keep my 'main' name [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Should I just stick to Wizard and accept it's many limitations? Or force myself to level to the more interesting stuff on Druid -- surely if I managed to main one to 60 back in the day, I can learn to love it again?
Yeah, I'm surprised it took until Page 2 for someone to recommend a necromancer. In Chortles's words, the necromancer is the class that actually feels like a powerful wizard.

But I bet if you get that wizard to level 29 and get Bonds of Force and your Staff of Temperate Flux, you could have a blast with the famous wizard strategy of "alternate between quadding and AFK medding chores/workout/YouTube."

As for me, when I was just getting started, I bounced around between a bunch of classes before reading someone's opinion that enchanters were the hardest class to play. When I read that, I said to myself "Oh yeah? We'll see about that!" and I was hooked.

Anyway, I humbly suggest you try a necro and/or stick out the wizard. You could also use the necro to twink out the wizard.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm just going to accept I need to pick different names for my characters so I can have multiple classes.
Oh no! You've been deleting them?? Like poor Cen? Yes, you should definitely come up with more names and use them. I used to write a backstory for each, but these days I just spend a week deciding on a name. You can also do the old "Bobby, Bobbyy, and Bobbyyy" thing some players do. I have a character named Aeleus and made some mules on the same account named Beleus, Celeus, Deleus, Eeleus, and so on to store extra items for later.

Secondly - make a new loginserver account for each character. Tons of reasons to do so. Preserve corpse rez timer, play together with friends/family, have your friend log onto your druid to port/buff you, etc.

Does anyone know if you can have the same surname on different classes? Are they unique, or per account unique etc?
Any number of characters can have the same surname. The entire server could pick the same surname. Only first names are unique.

I might recreate my druid from old live and role play as a helper again, rather than limit myself to the same arcane caster I've been playing recently in other games.
A smart long-term strategy. Necro is also a good "help my other characters" class because they can solo and earn platinum rapidly and consistently.

Step 1 Find good series on Netflix, preferably with a ton of seasons. Example Supernatural 15 seasons.

Step 2 Create Dark Elf Wizard... think mega evil, you will kill anything and everything, the world will burn.

Step 3 find place you can sit/med in peace but also get up every 5 minutes to go kill something. Watch netflix in downtime. You'll be level 60 in no time!

Every class kind of sucks until like level 25-30. Maybe the only ones that have it easy at level 1 are monks who are given Wu’s trance sticks.

It’s a slog of a game but the classes mature and make sense. Think about what you will want in the end and keep trying. Every class is fun and good at something; If you love it and know how to play it that’s all that matters.

Level 1-25 or so is by far the hardest part of the game. You've got no power and the game world just massacres you. Thats why a lot of people just power through those levels because they're the hardest to do when you're alone and the easiest to do with help.
