Default EQ Live Progression server?

New Progression Server FAQ and Upcoming Poll Details

Anyone else visited EQ Live website lately?

It's quite interesting that they're opening yet another progression server.

Is this a stunt just to keep players paying monthly subscriptions? Think they have caught wind of P1999 being successful with "progression" type server?

The idea itself kinda piques my interest, but meh.

I think the new zone designs are still in place on them? Correct me if I'm wrong.

No Oasis of Marr etc.

Well I recently read on reddit or somewhere that they plan to make a test server for the upcoming progression server. I wonder what they need to test other than possibly population?

They lost me at where if I die, I respawn with all my gear.

So, "progression server" but no such thing as corpse recovery [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

One of the reasons p1999 is popular is because it plays different. Corpse recovery is one of the things which makes it play different. Some people don't like these things, but that's why they're on live.

We can get something from p1999 we'll never get from live.

And there's more downtime which is pivotal to triggering players to talk to each other. Most players don't like downtime, true. But without it, the tendency seems to be to only grunt now and then.

No GPS-enabled maps. Spells/items are less powerful. Players are more reliant on each other.

I think a big part of a progression server on live is just making sure defiant isn't dropping (until it's appropriate) and/or OP quests/items aren't available. Bottom line, create a steady and convincing progression. Use the carrot. Don't put the carriage ahead of the horse. Don't just hand someone the keys to the car. Make em work for it. Risk/reward. Get the balance right. We're in Norrath, not a used car lot.

I don't want to be a hater. I've played on live. I played there last year. Had fun. I've liked p1999 too.

Kumbaya.

I don't see why it would be that hard to start it up. Easy for me to say lol, but I would think they just take this P1999 from the last Patch and kind of just restart it in the proper timeline on a different server. They should have all the code to do it. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
