Default Best early wep combo in classic (monk)

What would you say is better between going
Great staff(9/38) till 10, Two handed Hammer(13/51) 10+ with the very rare working dual wield proc
Or just going dual Morning Star (8/40) ? Seems to me even though i do the unequip/equip thing, my fists proc dual wield a lot more when i just auto attack without weapon swap, could say for 2x 1hb i havent been using, but i could also be very wrong and just under that impression

Get a mage to summon you two mod rods. Best ratio for a monk in vanilla.

Some items to think about, whatever class you're picking -- http://wiki.project1999.com/Players:Pre_Planar_Gear

Realistically, ModRods are going to be your best bet.

In terms of the initial leveling portion: by the time you can get an item, fists are usually better. There are some items that may last a few levels like Screaming Mace, Dwarven Mace, and Lockjaw's 2hander. But for the most part, fists will be better.

If you're joining after everything is being perma farmed:

Blued Two-Handed Hammer may or may not be on Green99, but it's probably the best droppable for twink monks barring PoSky droppables. It was in the game on Blue99.

Enamaled Black Mace x2 will probably be the most common set-up for low level monks w/ higher level friends. They're a common drop from a mob that will be killed round the clock.

There's CIMS from Permafrost, but EBMs are better and much more common.
Sharkbone hammer is a bit better than EBM, but will fetch a much higher price.

With that said, a min-maxing player will just wait for Kunark to roll an iksar. Guise ain't worth being human.

I don't have any plans to. I think I enjoy talking about EQ more than playing it. No desire to farm pixels or deal with the clusterf of classic camps.

If there ends up being a beta server to test any of the patches, I'd goof around on that some.

Hi Tecmos!
