Default I've done some quick googling. Computer research help.

I'm looking for something pretty much off the shelf that is:

V Lightweight- can sit on a cripples chest without killing them.
Low power. Generally coolish. Preferably fanless.

Runs everquest titanium with dgvoodoo2. Or wine Linux 🍷! Isn't like vendor locked in. Like u know smartphones are.

Smol. I don't want a huge 17 inch screen.

Money isn't rly a consideration. Tho I noticed modern-cutting edge hardware is crap 4 the value and tends to actually have way worse thermal efficiency.

It gets ridiculously hot here. So that can be an issue for several months. Just cuz it's like 110 degrees and 90% humidity and the AC can't even work.

My old MS tablet was kinda close to this and I could even run EQ with it throttlestopped. Butt the form factor really sucked and the display itself actually died.

I already have a beast of an insane gaming laptop. It's way. Heavy. And runs pretty hot tho.

Was thinking more along the lines of Asus ZenBook Ubuntu Laptop.

WHY WE LIKE IT: Portable and compact design, with a slim form factor and a weight of just 2.5lb, in addition to offering 8GB of RAM and a 512GB solid-state storage drive.

Pros
Battery lasts up to 15 hours8GB of RAM and 512GB SSDBacklit keyboard for night use

Check this out! https://a.co/d/fTC6LCx

Still tooo big tho.

I mean an 4g ram book that will load eq with 16-32g of drive is plenty for EQ.

Also I'm not really feeling windows lately.

Honestly win10 needs 4GB just to run half decently. Idk about win 11. You may be right about ditching win for linux. Thinking about it maybe I’m wrong and machines with 4 or less GB ram may just also have crap cpu. Maybe modern cpu/ram speed is fine with just 4 Gig? Idk

If you upgrade your laptop go for the illuminated keyboard, i’ve found mine useful. I’d avoid a beast, just something light weight, tough and well ventilated. Toshibas seem tough, lenovos plastics start breaking too quickly HPs are somewhere in berween. Obviously that is historical experience which may not apply to whatever is built more recently. .

I have an old laptop plugged into a telly that I sometimes play eq on. Do you get a long with wireless keyboards/mice?

looks like that asus would be what you're looking for

pretty much any laptop is gonna end up getting warm tho, especially when running a game, even EQ.

it's inherent in the tech, all those components are so close to each other with minimal air flow

I live like 10 mins away from you.

Do I have to come and fix your AC?

A dead AC here is like living without food.

I got a cheap Lenovo laptop a couple years ago at Best Buy, mainly for playing EQ, P99, indie games and emulators. Only cost me around $300.

There's far better options these days depending on your budget
