F-4 phantom was a really good jet for its day, and would not entirely suck in a modern dog fight, but the iranians don't have any modern upgrades

this war in ukraine seems to imply that unless you have the full force of the american military behind you you cant fly much.

I dont understand why we were able to dominate the air in iraq and Afghanistan but russia cant keep anything up there.

the F-22 has excellent radar defeat properties, the pilot would have to make mistakes in his profile and then fail to correct them

there's a good reason why the U.S. military will sell ANYTHING except an F-22

I chose 300 because Ukraine has those. So it's like a automatic no fly zone for shitty Russian aircraft.

yeah the krain's have all the old soviet tech, and russia hasn't really updated its gear and systems, so those S-300s can keep the skies clear.

info on full capabilites of S-400 is still unclear. "Stealth" aircraft aren't immune to radar, its a misnomer because it sounds cool.

They are a combination of systems, materials and tactics that make an aircraft "stealth"

stuff like radar absorption, radar reflection, aircraft characteristics, electromagnetic interference and flight profile altogether contribute to radar defeat, making a "stealth" aircraft.

So any anti-aircraft system reliant on high frequency radar to target an aircraft, is gonna have trouble with any of the 5th+ gen fighters.

unless the russians came up with some ground breaking new sensor tech, then the S-400 is just a faster version of the S-300, which I doubt, because the S-300 system kept generals awake at night back in the 80s, and since then every aircraft we developed has been "Stealth"
