I’ve been thinking about this duo, how active will the role of the cleric be once we have all of the core spells and abilities? It seems to me that it mostly relies on the enchanter? Just trying to spot early if it is likely to be boring.

The Cleric will make sure you don't die from your hasted pet (stun when charm breaks) and also keep buffs up and Complete Heal the pet once she has it at lvl 39.
She can also keep the mobs you are fighting rooted, although you will probably have the better roots on the Enchanter.

Cleric + Enchanter is the most powerful DUO , crazy powerful
not sure about the lowest levels but once the cleric has complete heal and the enchanter is charming well, those pets have more HP than warriors and way more DPS

A friend of mine and I started a duo the other day as Cleric (me) and Enchanter (him). Is our goal to just duo all the content, or can/should we also aim for grouping at certain points? We're only level 4/5 at the moment, so we've mostly just been killing things in Gfay/BB, but I'm just trying to build a road map for us at this point.

For a very relaxed but still pretty powerfull duo, try mage mage.
One pet will always be alive + no xp penalty means that the typical mage weaknesses are adressed. Don't expect something marvelous... though since you will probably always have at least one pet live, you might be able to duo some pretty impressive things.

Quick update. Man, things are really starting to fall into place for us now! We're in Blackburrow at the moment, and managed to have most of the zone to ourselves for a while this evening. Breaking up level three was tons of fun, and we had the spawns laid out perfectly... giving us both a taste of how much fun dungeons can be in the future.
Shout out to Deandra, the friendly bard who grouped with us for a while to be a part of the only times we wiped. Also, huge thanks to Quzo, who saved me from having a heart attack as we opened a door and found ourselves face to face with the Splitpaw Commander - only to see them enter another door into the room and promptly kill him. All of this within a second or two. Now I can't wait to play more! Only... do I really have to ride the boat back to Erudin to buy more Tiny Daggers?
