Question Green: Any way to change spell icons?

Some of these icons were just lazy. I mean, a muscle icon for charisma buff? Is there a way to use some skinned icons on Green?

press alt-O. look toward the bottom right for Load UI. the initial ones there are default, default_old, and velious iirc. the default one has the older icons with such as you said flexing arm. the velious should have different icons I hate that one so don't use it. just messed around with those a long time ago so it's entirely possible i'm wrong but you can still try

I don't believe new UI's will work on green.

You don't need to a new UI just swap in any icon file you want.

I think they're called gemicons.tga or something, there's a couple of files and also a version for the larger icons.

You can find these all over the place.

You can draw your own, if you want movie stars or private parts.

You can't just use any old set of icons from eqinterface.com because p99 uses a custom tga layout (I know because I made them) unless you modify the spells.txt file. Here is a link to when I first made sets of icons from various packs back in 2010 to get you started (the picture links are gone but the downloads still work).

Hmm... every patch I'd need to edit spells.txt, though? Any easier way?

EDIT: I tried the link above for the icons, dropped over the tga's, and no dice (to the theory you can just overwrite)

1a. (Optional) If you would like to have the default UI but with the Velious style spell icons from post 2 below you will need to do the above and then download this file >>>here<<<. Make a new folder called 'default_gems' in your Everquest\uifiles folder and unzip the contents of the file into it. Then in game type /loadskin default_gems to see the changes. Please remember that these files have a unique sized set of icons and are really a mod unto themselves.

Something to do with this, I'm sure. How can I fix the titanium icons to work properly with the spell gems?

EDIT: Comparing each, both are 256px but the titanium icons are smaller and more compact (would this result in lower quality...?). Seems like there's more icons than the original. Weirdly pushed to a corner. They're also SQUARE. The CIRCULAR icon links were dead [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
