the only downsides i could think of would be no real puller for the group. 5 mages + 1 Bard seems like it would be crazy since the Bard could pull/cc/snare/heal+mana song/stack DS

6 mages could do okay without a puller.

sick an earth pet on everything, then focus on the caster mobs once the melee mobs are rooted.

tbh 6 of any class is overdoing it though. 5 monks and 1 sham = win in classic. Or a mixture of mage, chanter, necro, wiz, druid, cleric
