That project exists but it's been in beta for like 15 years.

Also I'm not sure if you remember just how clunky those older clients are. Playing Shards of Dalaya was like stepping back into the stone ages and that was the relatively modern Gates of Discord client.

the people building EQ on Unity are the future. There is no future with redoing what nilbog et al. have done on P99.

Thanks for sending me down that rabbit hole, seems pretty cool that they can directly translate it from EQ zones to textures / meshes that pretty quickly snap to an approximate updated zone. At least that was how it worked in the one video I watched by the guy that posted about Unity on the eqemu forums.
