This is how I did 4a hobbits:
1. snare split
2. shadowbond and send in pet
3. splurt/pyro/vexing
4. keep up shadowbond+vexing
5. jump in to offtank with deflux when necessary
6. FD every now and then

Do you have a Necro Book Pet? I'm wondering how much differently those stack up.

When I did Halflings like that it was a very close fight every single time.

I watched a necro do exactly what @polishanarchy said with no necro book just fine. once the dots are loaded up, and you have vexing/shadowbond pumping. pet tanks good, and the dots really really start raping the health quick, as does pet. fd a few times, never saw him have to run in and tank a few hits though.

I do have focus pet. Tap tanking might not be necessary, but I like to keep my pet's health above a certain point if I can manage it.

Interesting. Last couple times I did it, I ended up burning 100% of my mana and both myself and pet were at 50% or less when the fight ended. Maybe I should try again with a different strategy.

I did basically what you did except I would root and DoT before sending pet in. Maybe I was burning too much mana using Cessation or Envenomed Breath.
