Hideyholes were very common in areas occupied by Turks. For obvious reasons villages traditionally keep them secret.

Even now there are plenty of secret caves in Greece which are tended by locals and aren’t acknowledged/known by the officials. Just because Greece is largely self governing now doesn’t mean the people will reveal their secrets - their freedom now is a blip on the radar compared to 1000 years of Turkish then Nazi occupation. I’m sure similar stories exist anywhere with routine brutal occupation.

Americans are very suspicious of authorities (second amendment and all that) so it surprised me to see they don’t understand why bunkers would be kept secret.

It was part of a Netflix “series” called oats studios. Short apocalyptic/horror films. They’re all pretty good. I recommend you watch the whole thing, some are fuckin scary. Rakka was my favorite, but zygote was also good. Firebase has a cameo from the actor who plays Stuart in letterkenny.
