Default Level 44 pet summon lvl range was wider before December 2000 era

Before December 2000, mage and necro pets from their level 44 summon lines had a chance to be level 35, and lvl35 (and below) pets were underpowered compared to 36+ pets (I am not sure yet exactly what this entails - needs more research).

Topic : Level 44 Pet Summons Changed

Yup, that should be the spell (I didn't list which one mostly because I don't know all of them...)

But what happens is that pets under 36 will be boosted to 36, the level range was not moved up. So, basically, the range is now something like 36-37. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I think most mages will resummon to get the most powerful one anyway, when they have time. We changed it because we thought it was rather silly to see one spell get such a dramatically different power in their pets. Yes, it will make mages and necros a bit more powerful at those levels. *shrug* It was such a glaring difference in power from 35 to 36 that it felt silly to leave it that way.

Judging by the magecompendium statistics table here, all the other pets follow a 5-level spread, both before and after the 44 pet. I suspect there was also a 5 level spread on the 44th pets, meaning they could be from 33-37. See attachment.

Would also fit the weirdness of identical-level pets having different max damages for the 44th pet row.

Half of the bug page posts are you posting about mage pets. Holy hell. You might need a break for your own mental health man.

Ah I think I solved the Level 36+ mystery. That seems to be the level where pets would start getting double attack rolls on their offhand (quadding).

Amirite?

Edit: looks like it

At 44 the age pets really start to shine, they start to
disarm, they reliably double attack (they will quad hit for 44 points each
attack) block dodge, repose and kick.
