Default Peculiar AMD 5700g Laptop Issue

Hello everyone,

I am seeking help with an odd issue on a new HP Laptop. Specs below.

AMD 5700g
16g Ram
NVME 256g drive

The problem I'm having is with latency being three to four times that of a second gen I3 with onboard graphics and only 4g Ram. I'm averaging 200-350ms on the AMD while the I3 has 60-100ms.

Both connect to the same network with two separate routers. Neither offers any improvement.

Forgot to put my location. Southeast US.

I've tried disabling the firewall and excluding my Everquest folder from Windows Defender. No improvement.

I've toggled everything I can find in the Radeon software, including their Anti-Lag feature, but nothing lowers this number.

I'm simply at a loss as to the cause of this issue.

Any ideas would be helpful.

If you copied your EQ directory from the old computer to the new one: in the new computers EQ directory rename to eqclient.ini file to generate a new one and see if you still have issues.

Not sure what you are suggesting.

Rename the eqclient file to eqclient.ini? If so, that did nothing but change the file name.

As for the Everquest folder, I got the download link from a Jon Blaze over on Youtube. Not entirely sure if that's the right name but close.

I've installed that zip file to numerous computers. The one this AMD 5700g model replaced was a 5th gen I5 that ran the game flawlessly off that download. It died recently from a tumble resulting in this new laptop.

The same zip was installed on the 2nd gen I3 and this computer.

I just performed a complete reinstall from the zip after making this post. No improvement. My latency is starting off now at 350+ in places with 10 or less people.

Is it an HP Omen? If it is, uninstall everything with regard to your wifi receiver, except the driver.

laptop model #?

these days alot of laptops seem to have shit wifi receivers.

I just bought an MSI GS66 laptop (Killer wifi card, not intel), it runs like a freight train but the wifi receiver has been a bit slower than my older desktop. One thing i found was removing all of the superfluous software that came with it, "wifi booster shit connection center" or whatever. uninstalled those programs and the connection improved somewhat. ofc later i will reformat the drive and install windows to my own specs, with only base drivers etc.

while you're at it, uninstall every single piece of bloatware that the factory installed, or reinstall windows.
