Yeah. I got hung up when I tried to convert to WASD or some other setup that is better than the arrow keys, something about reaching CTRL and SHIFT for holding auto run I just never really spent the time to make it work, and since I've literally played the bad stupid way since 1999 its hard to change, or to really want to.
Plus on PVP server I am in cali so my load times and latency seems to suck for the server in nirgon or rogeans garage which means I can't be that serious PVP battle wise anyways.

EQ used its own keyboard setup right out of the box. Played arrow keys in classic. Cross my right hand over to jump. WASD in P99, like a shooter.
Dennis Fong / Quake 1 WASD or arrow keys is not my worry, its controllers. Seriously people sleep on that, changes the games. I think original EQ would be more like the console version of Everquest Online Adventures if the Xbox360 controller setup was standard in 1999.

Yeah. Agreed. Also feel bad for people who can't type or use a console command line. Not pity. It's not for everyone. I just couldn't imagine it. Keyboard is life.
Writing is literally the cornerstone and bedrock of our world. And I can churn out pretty decent explanatory paragraphs whilst playing and moving in high pressure, competitive play, like pvp. Don't need hotkeys for comms rly. After seeing how many don't bind and use default, I kinda want to see if I can DJ some. Seems like I would chill some if I wasn't keying 7 aps or 500 apm or whatever.

EQ was designed to be all about typing, so a controller version would be EQ online adventures AKA a different game. Using right hand to use arrow keys, and left hand to jump all made perfect sense since most of the time you were at F and J rattling away in group guild and public chat.

It feels like a mud with a cinematic viewport 3d map.
Most the playing happens through the UI, not the video.

Yeah I played game with the hard UI and small window until it was removed completely. It was most important to be able to read text and well I just liked how everything had its place and my cool class icon was hanging out there doing its thing.
Video was just for navigating the things that would ultimately create the numbers and words in the text box. :P
