Default Was dot dmg doing less on moving targets classic?

Before they removed dot dmg reporting on green, I saw moving targets being hit for less than full dmg. You have to root or fear to get full dmg. B4 I make a bug thread I need to ask:

Is that classic?

I thought I recalled it as not being classic, meaning that dots did full damage. That being said I only played a necro up to like level 25 in 1999 and I very well could be wrong.

So, if I understand correctly, the only time dot damage is less than full, is when applied to a moving target?

If target is stationary before spell lands, it can run the entire duration of the spell and each tick will be for full 100% damage?

This man is correct. Before I made the thread I looked for some mobs to test it on.

Logs gave me an even 44 seconds for killing same mob twice while rooted and while snared.

two mobs:
1. rooted, 44 seconds of drifting death after 160 dmg dd
2. snared, 44 seconds of drifting death after 182 dmg dd

Can do another one without the dd's I guess but I'm satisfied with 1 trial tbh. It would be 66% drifting death dmg on the snare kill if it wasn't working as intended, so that 22 dmg shouldn't matter.

Not 100% sure what you guys are saying. At release DoT damage was full regardless. They then nerfed it to reduced damage on targets that are chasing (dmg remained full on feared/fleeing targets).

Nice. I tried to search for it but didn't think to look in Resolved and the word DoT was too short for the built in search option.
