Miscellaneous: Rabid Wolf in North Karanas

Tonight while Questing on my 17 druid, I encountered a rabid wolf in North Karanas. I engaged him with about 50% hp and 20% mana intending to beat him to death.

This turned into one of the closest, most anus clenching fights i've had on my permadeath druid. The rabid wolf had a max hit of 21 and nearly smoked me.

I don't know if this is working as intended, but this rabid wolf was certainly MUCH stronger than the ones listed on p99 wiki.

Allakhazam does not list a rabid wolf on mobs in NK.

Nor does EQ Atlas.

Nor does p99 Wiki list them spawning in NK.

So I can't find any evidence that the rabid wolves should be in NK. And I certainly don't see any evidence that they should be hitting for 21 (guessing this one was about level 12). Allakhazam lists rabid wolves as being level 4, an average of the 3-5 range listed on p99 wiki.

Is this implemented due to the scourge on Karanas? or...?

Due to scourge. The original two in Qeynos Hills were level 4 and 6.

The plague temporarily introduced rabid animals to the plains and most likely would not have been added to bestiary lists. For example, rabid griffons never existed before or after plague but were mentioned in descriptions of the event.

The wolf hit you for that much because it was a diseased version of one of the native wolves to North Karana as opposed to a migrated Qeynos Hills wolf.
