Question Why is Green EC such a crap market?

In comparison to Blue same era (3 months into Velious) the selection of items on offer is very thin and the price of most anything that would be beyond the means of a brand new level 24 Dial-a-Porter is absurdly high.

because people want to pay blue prices for items on green

and half the player base came from live where krono farming and RMT runs rampant

3 mo into velious on blue was also like 10 years in to kunark. Green is not 10 years in to Kunark.

Anti-social competitiveness run rampant... basically?

I'm glad that Activa was banned for RMTing, but let's be honest - is anyone surprised?

I'd be willing to bet that all the top guilds on Green have people engaged in RMT.

It only makes sense. I love Classic EQ and I'm thankful to have experienced it again via P99, but playing on Green has felt like investing in a pyramid scheme. People have to justify all the hours they have invested in the server and game.

How? Achieving max profit seems to be the rule.

The economy has felt ridiculous and artificial on Green for its entire lifespan. This isn't because "it's ClAsSiC."

Jimjam has it.

The extended period of Kunark in Blue radically altered the supply of items on Blue prior to Velious.

Blue taught me that a longer than normal Kunark can be a good thing even if Blue was in Kunark perhaps a bit too long.

I do think Kunark should last longer, there's so much content. Maybe more than 1 guild could get into VP. It's like, 8 months in total? Definitely should be longer.

Next green server should be 1 year vanilla, 1.2 years kunark, then velious imo.

Here's a fantastical new concept.....go farm the stuff you think is overpriced; flood the market and suddenly the price of your overfarmed item will drop. Now do that with everything in game and voila, problem solved.

Kaev was around when Velious was new on Blue. Folks saying "They've had Velious for years!" apparently aren't even reading his post. Jimjam might be onto something though, if not for this:

Green's economy seemed odd from the get-go. Everyone was always looking to price gouge on almost anything. I suppose over time it became part of the culture of the server.
