mac issues

I've been having issues and haven't been able to resolve them with the mac guide. I downloaded my titanium from the Red 99 torrent. My 2010 mac laptop utilizes the maverick OS... it A. doesn't seem to be allowing me to open and alter the windowed mode file that step 12 of the mac set up guide dictates and B. the game fails to launch when I click the either the P99 application or the Launch Titanium.bat file. All I seem to be getting is a black box saying: launch eqgame patchme. I feel like I'm missing something really basic here, but I've followed the set up guide step by step... any suggestions?
