Default Explanation for damage chart

Hi everyone, I found this damage chart on the wiki and it looks very helpful:
https://wiki.project1999.com/Statistics#Ratios

But I wanted to know, how did they get this information, and is it still accurate and reliable? Is there a corresponding chart for 2h? Is there any other way to compare weapons besides parsing it yourself?

Also, what does the number of 0.83 or whatever mean anyways? The chart has no explanation.

The ratio is the damage divided by the delay.

I think this answers every question in your post.

That chart is just dividing straight damage by delay, which is not very helpful unless you're just looking at offhand weapons. To compare main hand weapons on your own, the formula is pretty simple:

(2*weapon_damage + damage_bonus)/weapon_delay
Damage bonus for main hand is (character level - 27)/3, for 11 total at level 60.

There are some minor additions to that bonus for 2handers based on delay, but until the next patch it's not really enough to make a practical difference in choosing between weapons.

This will give you a number representing the weapon's relative DPS, which is usually all you need when shopping for weapons leveling up.
However, this is *NOT* the same as the actual DPS you will deal, which depends on a lot of other factors like your atk, mob's AC, etc. The only way you can really figure out your actual dps is to run a parse. But as a rule of thumb, all else being equal (using the above formula), lower delay weapons will perform better due to the way minimum hits work.

Example:
Jade Mace: 9/18
Effective DPS at 20: (9*2 + 0)/18 = 1.00
Effective DPS at 50: (9*2 + 7)/18 = 1.39
Damage bonus was (50-27)/3 = 7.667 = 7 (rounded down)

Wurmslayer: 25/40
Effective DPS at 20: (25*2 + 0)/40 = 1.25
Effective DPS at 50: (25*2 + 7)/40 = 1.425

Thanks a bunch Shodo, this was very helpful! This is my first melee class I've ever played so I never knew this stuff. Surprised such a useless chart is on the wiki and looks so professional.
