I'm no genius, but I see so many genuinely stupid people every single day I wonder how we got this far.

dumb men and women consuming even more mind numbingly dumb/dull input (esp. tv). I believe it has become worse since the widespread availability of the internet as chunks of these idiots have been given the ability to publicly(!) share their moronic thoughts and perspectives (just look at the anti-vaccine/autism zombies).
