If you're face tanking the 2h is gonna be much more efficient than the dual wield option. You will both eat less ripostes and riposte harder. Otherwise the 2hrs are probably pretty comparable DPS.

2h is better all around if you can get haste , even end game cek 2h is better for general use then 1h.

Soloing: Slow them with Swarmcaller, swap to 2h/Woodsman's staff
