Default Just had a weird 20 years late epiphany

Soandso, the character you play in the original Everquest tutorial is named that because he is 'So And So'.

so-and-so
/ˈsō ən ˌsō/
noun
a person or thing whose name the speaker does not need to specify or does not know or remember.

Huh. Am I an idiot for never realizing this? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

How are you still playing the tutorial 20 years later? I didn't think it even worked on P99/Titanium client.

I haven't played it recently. But it's a seperate .exe file so I am sure it's out there on the internet somewhere.

It doesn't. However, the tutorial *does* work if installed from the Trilogy disks (or possibly other old disks). Some folks, including myself, still have those laying around.

Haha. It's not inconceivable that some people don't notice Soandso is so-and-so. I believe "so-and-so" is more common than "soandso;" and it's almost never capitalized. Perhaps the absence of the hyphens combined with the capital S and the fantasy setting prevented you from interpreting the word as a combination of English words. Something like that.
