Default Do Paladins need a Haste item?

Can Paladins skip on Haste when using a 2h or is it a good idea to get a Haste item for them, such as SoulFire?

And at what level does a Paladin start to benefit more from 2h than 1h/shield?

unless your weapon has a delay of like 10 - its always good to have haste - the more the better.

2h vs 1h all depends on ratio of a specific weapon. keep in mind the dmg cap before level 20

SoulFire's ratio is 23/50 I believe.

1. Every melee wants haste, although Bard probably gets the least value out of it and could get away with skipping it.
2. Soulfire is a terrible weapon at this stage of the game, think of it as a required step for your epic and equip something more effective.

If you want to use 2hander get Baton of Faith (30/40 2hb, cheap in EC, see it for 150 often.) If you can afford a decent 1hander and shield that's even better (shield ac helps a lot tanking, knight defensive skills don't get fixed until velious.)

Once you can afford it, get a haste belt. You want the added agro as a tank, so many ridic monk & rogue twinks running around, every bit of agro helps.

Kay, and I take it Dwarves are the best Paladins overall, stay-wise?

As someone who has a rogue he plays sometimes +1

Its just as frustrating as a rogue as it is for a tank for the rogue to end up tanking (not blaming or griping here) because the tank can't hold aggro

1. Half-Elf is by far the best-looking Paladin, and frankly, nothing matters more.
2. Erudite can use Shield of the Stalwart Seas, plus their men are manly enough to wear skirts without being self-conscious about it.
3. Human male gets a couple of fantastic 'stache choices, females look almost sexy enough to be Half-Elfs.
4-5. Dwarf and High-Elf squabble over the scraps under the table.

WTH? you edited your partial quote of my post to replace the 100% correct "their" (possessive) with the hopelessly inappropriate "they're" (contraction of "they are")? I DEMAND A RETRACTION!!!

Also, @brony-pal, eye patches are so 1998. Nobody wears eye patches anymore. The 'stache is where it's at, the creepier the better.
