Ikky BP at level 54

I am a level 54 Shammy with JBB and I have saved enough to get the Ikky BP but before I purchase it I was curious if anyone else has used it at level 54? A friend suggested I might want to stick with my Phase Spider Carapace while fighting and only equip the Ikky BP when sitting so I dont loose the stats. He also hinted that the regen might not be that great at 54. The current price on the Ikky BP is in the 10K range and that seems like a lot of plat to spend on an item I'll only use while medding. The person who suggested this has not played a Shammy at 54 so he isn't basing his suggestion on first hand knowledge.

Any thoughts?

Legidias I am going to purchase it and I am not worried about reselling but I am curious about your thoughts on wearing it while standing and fighting? Does the suggestion of only wearing it while medding hold water?

Not really.

Think about regen in overall terms of HP.
Ikky BP is 5HP / tick, so in 1 minute is 50 hp.
If you wear it over a course of a 2 min fight and say you're tanking all the damage. You already gained 100 hp. The PSC, in terms of relevancy and ignoring the 10 AC diff, grants about +50hp with STA and raw hp included.

They dont exactly equate to the same thing, but if you're not full health and given time to regen, the regen on the chest piece > the HP given by the PSC.

There is also +6 wis, so about +30 mana. You can calculate for yourself the difference of HP gained from regen with canni vs the raw mana gain.

The longer a fight goes on, the more benefit of wearing regen overall.

If you don't need the resists at that moment the PSC's stats will help you nothing when not fm and full health and as shaman you should never be full hp and full health, like ever, when exping. The regen will help you get more hp and more mana, resulting in faster recovery and more spells per time. You should always wear it and not just when medding.

The regen will help you gain more hp than the more ac will help you take less damage too in the long run.

This shouldn't even be a question, you need to stack all the regen you can and cycle canni 3 & 4.

Cani IV has a 54% transfer rate, so every 2 regen you get is 1 FT.
