I went to a chinese hot pot restaurant for lunar new year that one of the victims was at. Probably a bad idea in hindsight.

Charles M. Lieber, the chair of Harvard’s department of chemistry and chemical biology, was arrested today.

He was paid by Wuhan University of Technology.

He received over $1.5 million by the university and the Chinese government to build a laboratory in Wuhan.

A second person charged, Zaosong Zheng, was a Harvard-affiliated cancer researcher who was caught with 21 vials of cells stolen from a laboratory at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.

I’m working the ski season in Niigata Japan this year, and this week is Chinese New Year so we’re flooded with a bunch of folks from China, Singapore, and Malaysia.

People are buying up face masks from all the stores like hot cakes. It’s impossible to find them back in China and Japan has a shit load of them. Saw a lady at the hotel last night with a pile big enough to fill multiple checked bags.

It’s pretty wild.
