McConnell got outplayed by both Sanders and Trump in this case. They held his feet over the coals during a time when everyone was looking and you could watch in real time as he stonewalled the $2000 checks. If he had brought that bill up I am positive Republicans would have the Senate. He was overconfident, Sanders will get what he wants and Trump will get his petty revenge against the Republican Senate who didn't fall in line.

I don’t blame him for not pushing that bill. While I agree that $600 is too little, there are also a lot of provisions in the bill that just aren’t acceptable from a fiscal conservatism standpoint.
